We aim to increase the residents’ understanding of the threat of weeds to plant and wildlife habitat and the bushfire fuel risk to private properties, local infrastructure and the surrounding Dandenong Ranges National Park.
An emphasis is placed on workshops and helpful contact with local residents to increase their understanding of the seriousness of increasing fuel loads in the residential area and the burgeoning weed problem. Residents active involvement is needed to achieve the desired outcome of increasing biodiversity and reducing the bushfire risk. Also to provide practical assistance to enable more local residents and environment groups to continue -working together with the public land and fire managers to improve biodiversity and bushfire safety across the project area.
